-5 year Anniversary-

Today is our 5 year anniversary! I can't believe it's been 5 years..and yet sometimes I can. Marriage is up and down and has highs and lows. Add kids to the mix and the highs get higher and the lows get lower. That's the truth of it! It's not always easy.  I have to say though, putting in the work that is required is well worth it, staying active in your church is also key..it really gives you the fundamentals you need to survive a happy marriage. I don't know how we would still be married without it.  I am so thankful to have a husband that is in it for the long haul, he is the one who will see the light at the end of the tunnel when I am stuck in the dark.  He is such a good man, and such an amazing father.  Ryan I love you forever, you're it for me!  Thank you for 5 fun filled years, you are still the same person you were when I met you.  As I'm typing this Curren is honking a bike horn in my ear and Finley is crawling like a mad woman. 2 kids in less than 2 years, 3 moves to 3 different cities, going through hard times with losing loved ones (the hardest time of losing Bev :( ), losing and getting jobs...all the stuff that life has thrown at us and we're still together, and I still think you're HOT, like super sexy. Love you Thomps! Here's some wedding pics for you peeps to peep.

This is my cousin, Krista! We are 11 hours apart, we grew up always together, she's always been much taller than me..and would always carry me around when we were little, so we kept the tradition going. She was my Maid of Honor and I'm so happy she was!
Me, with my Mom, Dad, and Brother

One of my favorite pictures..Ryan's Dad and Ryan with their arms around his mom

Our Cake, and proposal picture. (Ryan proposed with a caricature drawing!)

we smashed

had to get a SOMIS picture!

watching the slide show

My Dad and I danced to Nat King Cole and Natalie King Cole's "Unforgettable" I chose this song, cause growing up EVERY time this song would come on, my dad would tell me that Natalie recorded this over her Dad's voice after he had passed away. I never told him that he already told me 1 million times, so it was appropriate to make it our song :)

Ryan dancing with his Mom to Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World"...we miss Bev so much ;(

My favorite wedding pic! Entrance into the reception

Finley's 1st year & Birth Story!

June 24, 2010 our sweet baby girl was born, Finley Sage Marie Thompson 7.7 lbs 21 inches at 11:09 am
First time meeting Brother, less than 1 day old

Here is month 1-12 of you!

and here you are as a BIG ONE YEAR OLD!
Time has WARP sped through your first year, little Finagles! I can see the baby starting to leave your face..and the toddler starting to enter!  It makes me sad, but I am excited for your future. You are the most beautiful baby girl I've ever met, inside and out- really you are. We are so thankful for you, God answered my daily pregnancy prayer for a "calm, content, healthy girl" you are all of that and I am eternally grateful! You complete our family and you are such a joy to be around, we just love you so much.  I love the relationship you and Curren have, ..he is so protective of you and so proud to show off his "sister". Curren can do no wrong in your eyes, and no one can make you laugh harder than he! Happy Birthday sweet Fin Fin, Daddy and I can't wait to see what you're life as a 1 year old has in store!!

I'm going to jot down your birth story here, because..better late than never. I will make it to-the-point.

On your due date (June 20), our midwife informed us she would be going on a meditation retreat, and would not be attending your birth. I may or may not have wished her a very un-relaxing, tense, and an un-meditative retreat.

Dad and I scrambled to find a Dr. as time was short. It was really important to us to KNOW what Dr. would be delivering you, I didn't want an on-call Dr.- wasn't happening. We found Dr. Coyle and he guaranteed to deliver you on June 24, as he would be the delivering Dr. that day. Against our original wishes of not having an induction, it was more important to me to know the doctor. So on the night of June 23, daddy and I packed our bags and headed to the hospital. During most of the day of June 23 I was having random contractions, we went to dinner with Nammy (my mom), Tapa (my dad), and Curren before leaving for the hospital. During dinner my contractions became very strong and were about 5 mins apart, so we headed to the hospital a little earlier than we were scheduled. ..here's  a time line to make it easy to read!

8:00 pm- check in at hospital, they tell me I am already in labor, they get us settled in the room and give me cervidil to hopefully start dilation- i was at a 2

12:00 am- back labor starts, Nurses were concerned you were "sunny side up, like Curren was"

3:00 am- back labor was KILLING me, dilated to a 4. Daddy squeezed my hips with each contraction to relive the pain in my back, it really helped...and if he stopped squeezing too soon, mama was screamin..I remember using the "deep O" technique, just basically belting out OOOOOOOO and it creates some vibration in your body that relieves the pain, and it WORKS.

5:00 am- 4cm I get into the labor tub/jacuzzi and was discouraged by not much relief

6:00 am- mama is over BACK labor, still at a 4 is debating getting an epidural

9:00 am- almost to 5 cm SCREAMING for Daddy to call the Nurse to get the epidural, and feeling DONE ..oh and somewhere during this they gave me an ambien for some reason..? I was kind of out of it.

10:00 am- get the epidural (took awhile), going to rest, at a 5 finally..nurses leave to let me rest

10:20 am- I say, " Ryan call my mom CALL MY MOM RIGHT NOW, tell her to hurry, she's coming out, pressure PRESSURE! call the nurse! call someone!" Nurses come in and say, "Honey you were just at a 5 twenty mins ago let me check you, I really doubt"..."CALL THE DR! Baby is coming now!"

10:30 am- Nammy arrives..still waiting for the Dr. Nurses telling me to stop pushing, I'm telling them "I'M NOT!"
after this you just started coming down, I honestly was not pushing and we could all see you comin out!
Dr. was no where to be found!
Finally I had to start pushing, I couldn't NOT push, I just had to- so I did, I just figured the nurses would catch you!

11:07 Uh Oh YOU'RE HEAD'S out

11:08 Dr. runs in, and literally catches you as your shoulders came out

11:09 you were born!!
You laid on my chest and we relaxed listening to the music that daddy had playing..Moby to be exact. It was an amazing labor, you were totally perfect. You nursed like a champ (and still do). We were gone the following morning, left at 10 am so we could be home with Curren, plus I hate how they wake you up throughout the night at the hospital, I knew I was going to need all the sleep I could get, especially considering Curren was still not sleeping through the night. Dr. Coyle checked us all out the next morning..no tears no nothing and good to go!
Good Times!
and PS, thanks for being born 1 day before our anniversary, now we have no excuse to ever forget :)

SAY WHAT?! v.2 of crazy things Curren says.

Well over the past few weeks whenever Curren says some crazy hair brained thing I have been jotting them down...here are a few gems

while at the beach  Curren tossed a handful of sand all over ryan..
Ryan:" why did you do that?! thats not ok!"
Curren: "it's pixie dust daddy, now you can fly!"

Curren: "mom i'm not a cowboy anymore, i'm a carnivore!!" (yesterday i was teaching him the difference between carni/omni/and herba vores

while playing forts with Ryan...
Ryan: "I'm the king!
Curren: "No you're a teacher daddy!"

we're driving and he sees a cyclist with no helmet on,  and Curren yells
"you need a helmet, you're going to get big time outs!!"

while telling him a bed time story about the zoo...
Curren: "Mom you know the Capybaras? I don't like them. They are super pokey with their hair and i cant sit next to them because they poop in their river"

"MOM!!! I JUST PEED IN THE GOPHER HOLE! GOT EM!"

 While eating breakfast..
"mom where is the elephants toilet at the zoo? who wipes their booties?"

while he is not in my sight...
Curren: "Mom! Come quick!"
Me: mumbing.."Great... "
Curren (on the trampoline): "Mom I see a deer in the backyard with my nocnurs!" (binoculars) ..as he is holding them backwards and on the wrong eyes

Me: "Curr I just got my hair cut, I cut bangs, do you like it?"
Curren: "No, you look like Giggs"
Me: "seriously Curren?? THANKS!"

Currball's always keepin it fresh!

The Cat's in the Cradle and the Silver Spoon

watch this vid, and read the lyrics, it's worth your 3 minutes and 50 seconds.

My dad is a hard working man, he is always whistling and singing while he works.  Growing up, this song was one I often heard him singing while cooking, chopping wood, hunting, fishing...he was always singing this song.
It must have really hit home with him, because my dad was always there with my brother and I, taking us on all kinds of adventures, talking to us about everything, and making sure we were doing the right thing.
He worked hard to provide for us in all ways a father should..emotionally/financially/physically/spiritually.

They say you tend to marry a man that is like your own father (if you have a good father).  I am so happy that I have!
Ryan works so hard for us, he will hold down whatever job he thinks is needed to provide for us, and make sure that I am staying at home with our babies, raising them.  Unfortunately he is a rarity! But that's also how his Mother and Dad raised him.

Things I love about Ryan:
-He will wear Fin in the Ergo and uses his special bouncing skills (that I do not have) to put her to sleep
-He gets more into building forts out of the sheets than Curren does (he's a kid at heart)
-He can't handle the kids crying, he won't ignore them..he will fix the problem
-He gets up with the kids in the middle of the night! If Fin wakes up, he almost always goes and gets her and brings her to me to nurse her back to sleep
-He tells his pregnant co-workers how they can create a pump schedule when they return to work, and all the benefits of breastfeeding!!
-When he comes home from work he (99%) of the time asks what WE want to do, as a family, it's not him always going off and doing things alone..although those times are needed..we are very much a unit in his mind, and he wants us all to go on a hike..beach trip etc.

and finally
-today i was coming home from running errands and was picking up the kids to take them to the beach so he could chill solo...he had the diaper bag packed complete with sandwiches/sunscreen/changes of clothes/swim suits..he thought of everything, he is so on board and I SO appreciate it!

Ryan- you are our baby's father, and there is no other man that could give our kids the love and attention that you do, I love watching you light up with them, thank you for being a seriously amazing dad!

Happy Father's Day babe! Can't wait for you to open your gifts! Love you & I'm so happy we get  to spend so much time with you!
